PICA pada Siswa Tuna Grahita: Studi Kasus di SLB Karya Bakti Surabaya

Perilaku memakan benda yang bukan makanan, dikenal sebagai pica, merupakan salah satu isu yang sering dihadapi oleh anak-anak dengan kebutuhan khusus. Di SLB Karya Bakti Surabaya, misalnya, terdapat seorang siswa kelas 4 yang secara rutin memakan pensil warna hingga habis. Kasus ini menunjukkan bahwa pica bukan hanya masalah kesehatan, tetapi juga masalah pendidikan yang kompleks. Tantangan ini memerlukan pendekatan multidisiplin untuk memahami dan mengatasi perilaku tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh siswa tuna grahita kelas 4 di SLB Karya Bakti Surabaya yang memiliki kebiasaan memakan pensil warna hingga habis. Studi ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan observasi langsung dan wawancara mendalam sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku ini terkait dengan faktor-faktor internal seperti kondisi medis dan gangguan sensorik, serta faktor eksternal seperti kurangnya pemahaman orang tua dan guru tentang kebutuhan khusus siswa. Intervensi melalui pendekatan terapi perilaku dan peningkatan kesadaran di lingkungan sekolah dan rumah disarankan untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Dari hasil penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa adanya pengaruh faktor medis & lingkungan dan solusi intervensi yang efektif dalam mengatasi perilaku pica.
