Introduction: Pregnancy is a period in which the fetus develops in the mother's womb. During pregnancy, the mother's body undergoes many physiological changes to allow for fetal growth and to prepare the mother for childbirth and lactation. Therefore, the nutritional needs of pregnant women are greater than the nutritional needs of women in general. Nutrition plays an important role during pregnancy for the health of the mother and fetus. Lack of adequate nutritional intake can put someone at risk of anemia during pregnancy and the risk of giving birth to a baby with low birth weight (LBW). Upper Arm Circumference (LILa) is one of the anthropometric methods that is useful for assessing nutritional status in pregnant women. Objective: To determine the relationship between upper arm circumference and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women and birth weight of babies at Muhammadiyah Medan Hospital. Method: This study is an observational analytical study, applying a cross-sectional research method. Results: Pregnant women with anemia were 37 people (74%), and pregnant women who were not anemic were only 13 people (26%). Babies born with normal weight were 45 people (90%), while babies with low birth weight were only 5 people (10%). Pregnant women with normal upper arm circumference were the most, namely 40 people (80%), while pregnant women with upper arm circumference at risk of chronic energy deficiency were only 10 people (20%). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between upper arm circumference (LiLa) and anemia (p = 0.046) and there is a significant relationship between upper arm circumference (LiLa) and birth weight (p = 0.048) in pregnant women at RSU Muhammadiyah Medan.
